If you did not already know I am an avid reader. I am a lover of both fiction and non-fiction books. My non-fiction reads are usually memoirs or self-development books. There are some that have greatly impacted my life, which I would like to share with you.
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
The premise of this book is to live your life based on four pillars. The four agreements are: be impeccable with your word; don’t take anything personally; don’t make assumptions; and always do your best. I try to live my life by these, and from implementing them my life has truly gotten better. The book is a quick read but may be the most life-changing book you ever read.
The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz
Another life-changing book my Don Miguel Ruiz. This book is not only for people in a romantic partnership, but for people that want to cultivate more self-love. This book delves into how to create more love for ourselves and other people. He explains how to cultivate the relationship with yourself, so you don’t need any outside love and reinforcement from anyone, because you already give yourself all the love you need.
Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza
Life-changing, LITERALLY. Dr. Joe Dispenza dives deep into how common people are doing the uncommon, and how we can use our bodies as an instrument to change our mind. He references both science and real-life experiences people have had using his work. The book teaches us how we can intentionally change our brain chemistry to create transcendental experiences through meditation with the knowledge and instruction he provides us. This knowledge and the complementing meditations have no doubt changed my thoughts and given me a more balanced and less reactive mind.
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza
If you have not figured it out by now, Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work is truly life-changing. In this book Dr. Dispenza explains in laymen’s terms how we can use quantum physics, genetics and biology to change ourselves and our habits. He gives us instructions on how to apply his teachings to change any area of your life. I truly cannot recommend his books and meditations enough.
Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle
One of the most beautifully gut-wrenching books I have ever read. If you want inspiration for how to get over major disappointments and heartbreaks, then this book is for you. This is an inspiring story of how Doyle confronted the pain of betrayal and used the pain to become her most authentic self. This book helped me heal from my own disappointments and heartbreaks.
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Glennon Doyle’s third book is another vulnerable and brave account of experiences which influenced and created who Doyle is. For many years Doyle lived in discontent in order to fit in, but this was eating her alive. She covered it up with alcohol and bulimia. But she eventually found her voice and started living truthfully by living for herself and not for others. Untamed shows us how to live bravely.
So you want to talk about Race by Ijeoma Oluo
This book explores some of the most important topics and conversations about racism against black people. Oluo answers questions that most people are too afraid to ask, and guides the reader through many subjects ranging from hair to cultural appropriation in very honest conversations about racism.
